The End of a (Very) Long Hiatus

After some soul-searching and often times, lazy-bumming travels and coincidentally, health limitations (got knocked up somewhere along the way), I am finally and officially will be joining as a legitimate vendor (not just word-of-mouth projects) for the food and craft market I have been eyeing for sometime now: Ripe.

I will be at the Saadiyat location on the 29th of August and 26th of September 2015.  Hope to see you there :)

Getting Acquainted with Monster High

My goddaughter turned 7 last 6th March 2014.  She is, by far, the most challenging client I have ever had because of my utter ignorance of what kids nowadays are playing with (old age is catching up).  So when her Mom said the theme is Monster High, I thought Monsters University--which is of course, wrong.  Thank God for Google.

I might have some itty-bitty regrets with the full set-up (ooohh I so wish I pushed through with ceiling decor--either black pompoms/ black-and-white striped drape/purple feather hanging accent!) but I guess, we live and learn.  The important part here--the client was happy :) Photo credits to Les D'souza (I basically stole--with consent haha--most of her party photos):

To see the full set, check out her account or the In Action page here in the blog.

Fairies this December

The challenge:  creating a birthday party for a girl-turning-8 and not letting the color pink take control.

What she wants:  fairies, pink, Sleeping Beauty

The main difficulty here is how to make it happen--at school...in the rural countryside...37 kids...and your assistants are grown men (the father and the uncle of the child) with no interest whatsoever in the importance of "detailed-pretty".

Time to let the workshop smoke up those chimneys again.

Thirt(eeny)

My ex-flatmates which I refer to as my kids (I pose as their irresponsible yet fun-loving adoptive mother "Nayski") are one creative couple (have I mentioned they are the creators of my wedding invite?)...last Friday (5th July 2013), Little Grrl, as I fondly call the half of this tandem, celebrated her thirtieth birthday at The Farm in Al Barari.

I, of course, decorated the place for her and themed as "Young and Rustic Night Lights".  Since most of the time, I was helping the host, I didn't get to take much photos.  Luckily, Marb del Rosario aka Nak (Little Grrl's husband), took helm of the camera and made a pretty neat video and without bias, I'd say worth paying for!  Watch it for yourself:  click on the following link:

D' Cupcakery Taste Test

I love supporting home businesses because starting up one myself, I know that these entrepreneurs have more heart and soul put into their crafts than the commercial establishments.

Some clips of D' Cupcakery goodies.  Click on the name to get to their Facebook page and check out more of what's offered!  It's the right kind of sweetness which can make you eat more than one (admit it, most of the ones we tasted--we can't even finish one piece! :))
